Demetris obtained his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, in 2007. He subsequently pursued postgraduate studies at the same institution, earning a Master’s degree in Surgery while completing a two-and-a-half-year surgical internship at the university’s veterinary teaching hospital. In 2024, he further enhanced his academic portfolio by completing a second Master’s degree in Public Administration at the University of Nicosia, Cyprus. Since 2011, he has been serving as an Official Veterinarian with the Cyprus Veterinary Services, contributing to the implementation and oversight of national veterinary policies and public health standards. In 2013, Demetris was first elected to the Board of the Pancyprian Veterinary Association. Over the years, he has held several key leadership roles within the Association, including two terms as General Secretary and two terms as Vice President. In 2024, he was appointed President of the Board. Additionally, since 2019, he has served as an elected Board Member of the Cyprus Veterinary Chamber, the statutory regulatory authority for the veterinary profession in Cyprus. Demetris actively represents Cyprus in various European and international veterinary organizations, including the Federation of European Companion Animal Veterinary Associations (FECAVA), the World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA), the International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM), and the Federation of Veterinarians of Europe (FVE).
